Teaching the Constitution Through the Churches

American Veterans In Domestic Defense (AVIDD) has concluded that knowledge and understanding of our American historical documents is essential to restoration of our freedom and sovereignty. Too many of our elected leaders either do not know or do not understand the value of adhering to these founding documents, one of which they have solemnly sworn to uphold and defend. We consider this a serious handicap to our continued freedom.

AVIDD will teach the plan of our founders for a free, sovereign people including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and our Christian heritage.

Our plan is to teach veterans in every church how to lead classes in their congregation. Lessons can be scheduled for weekdays, unconnected with church activities -- though Abraham Lincoln said, "The Constitution should be preached from the pulpit."

Some church leaders may resist. Many others will encourage the veterans in this serious, arduous, long-term project. We did not lose our sovereignty overnight. We shall not regain it without a total, long-term commitment.

AVIDD believes churches are the best place to teach these important issues because:

  1. The churches must counter the national trend to destroy Christian influence in America.
  2. Members and guests are likely receptive students.
  3. Churches also benefit from the Constitution right of free speech, which the government restricts through the IRS and recent "crisis" legislation.
  4. Churches have classrooms scarcely used on weekdays.
  5. Many churches would value the veteran' voice in teaching this subject.
  6. Separation of church and state is a myth. Government without morality is a menace.

Pastors and religious leaders may be reluctant to lend their names to this project, but veterans will gladly shoulder the burden. Those who wore the uniform have already proven their loyalty to our homeland. Who would criticize our veterans?

We will take for our mottoes:
"You shall know the Truth and the truth will set you free."
"Lest you stand for something, you may fall for anything."

AVIDD welcomes and will cherish your input, suggestions, and support as we implement this patriotic educational program.
